During my time as an intern at the Dyckman Farmhouse Museum in Inwood, Manhattan, I wore numerous hats. I started my time with the museum managing social media. Soon, I was using my background in education to work with school groups who came to tour the museum, leading activities for them and giving them tours of the property. Next, I began hosting, directing, and advertising our new podcast, Feeding Uptown, a podcast about the people and groups that feed the culture of uptown Manhattan.

As a result of my success as an intern, the museum created a new position for me in the summer following my internship. As the museum’s new Design and Community Engagement fellow, I am expanding upon the work I did as an intern. Feeding Uptown debuted a second season, and I designed new merchandise to revamp our online store. In addition to my role as a digital media specialist for the museum, I also mentor our current interns, teaching them new digital media skills and helping them grow as individuals. Below is a sample of the work I have done for the museum.

Feeding Uptown

Founded in the summer of 2022, I manage Feeding Uptown, a podcast meant to showcase Inwood residents who work to make Inwood and the surrounding neighborhoods a better place. I manage all aspects of the podcast—hosting, shooting, editing, advertising, distribution, and more. You can find the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and Amazon Music. Merchandise Designs

I innovated new merchandise designs for the museum’s online store that went beyond typical museum merchandise. Featuring original illustrations and photography, these designs capture the essence of Dyckman as an iconic uptown community hub.

Working with Kids and School Groups

I also work with children and school groups who come to the museum. For our large events, I design accessible instructions for our arts and craft activities. So if you want to learn how to make a wheat dolly, definitely email me! Here’s me having a fun time with the kiddies!
