For this project for Typography and Design at Fordham University, we were challenged to modify an existing typeface, mine being Futura, into something new. “Futura Stubby” was inspired by the cup size chart at a boba store; instead of offering the standard small, medium, and large cups, this particular establishment substituted large for “stubby” a short and stout cup that looked like a Big Gulp in the middle of being stepped on. Hence, this plump typeface was made to look like it was being lovably squished ever so slightly.
