Using form to tie together three different films.
A project for Typography and Design at Fordham University, I was given three very different movies—Jordan Peale’s psychological thriller Get Out, David Cronenberg’s science fiction horror film The Fly, and Kathryn Bigelow’s action film Point Break—and challenged to make a consistent poster series advertising screenings for each. My approach focused on using form to express the emotions that each film might arouse in the view. Though their plots differ significantly, each film illicit intense feelings of suspense in the viewer, demanding a climactic release. I translated this feeling into a physical action—ripping paper to shreds. The result is a tension-filled poster series that also references the layers of deception featured in each film.
